In this America when I was a child 40 years ago I remember the same things being said about what we leave our grandchildren. Well what the hell are you doing about the people that are grandchildren now? To hell with future grandchildren that don't exist yet, do something about the ones you have now.
In this America if you are going through a bankruptcy it has as much chance as being a result of a health care issue as not.
Today if you are a part of a war based on lies you are a hero and not an accomplice. The military now chooses who they allow to serve. That way it makes it easier to weed out those that don't follow as well as some others. That goes for the enlisted and officers.
In today's America we have more poor people. We have more vacant homes. We have people living in vehicles aka Bushvilles. We have people evicted from low rent motels so those same motels can make more money during a political convention.
In the America of the 1920s we had people that took advantage of the lack of oversight and regulation. Is it remarkable that we also had women protesting how they were treated, is it significant that we waste resources on prohibitions, is it not regressive to suppress the futures of so many of our brothers and sisters through all the burdens society can pile on them.
On the books we are wealthier, as a society, as nearly any society has ever been. Yet we have more national strife, more cultural strife, and more strife of every kind then we have ever seemed to have in recent memory.
Time is the torque arm. Passion is the force. A united world is the goal.
